Grass Pollen

If summer is the worst time of year for your allergies, it’s likely that grass pollen is to blame. You can’t escape grass, but there are many ways to manage your allergies.

Spring

Grass pollen is both seasonal and regional, affecting many people in late spring and early summer. This allergy trigger’s impact is not limited to outdoors either as it’s easily brought indoors by wind, people and pets.

What To Do

  • Learn to recognize that grass can trigger your symptoms
  • Keep the grass in your yard short
  • Wear a mask to mow the lawn, or ask someone without allergies to help
  • Think about replacing your grass lawn with low pollen ground cover such as pollen-free features like rocks, sand and water

Tree Pollen

When you look up at the beauty of a flowering tree, you’d never guess that tree pollen is one of the worst allergy offenders.

What It Is

Trees produce light, dry pollen that can be carried by the wind for kilometers – which is why they can wreak havoc on your allergies

What To Watch Out For

What’s interesting is that in some species only the male trees cause a problem. Their female counterparts don’t have any pollen at all.

What To Do

  • Learn to recognise the types of trees that trigger your symptoms
  • Consider removing any of those trees from your property
